Women the world over fall in love with this gemstone for its fine pink tones which radiate charm, esprit and tenderness.
Beryl, in its pure form, is completely colorless. Rich hues are imparted to the mineral by the multiplicity of impurities in its crystalline structure. Deep green Emerald, blue to blue-green Aquamarine, golden yellow Heliodore, rare red Beryl, and pink Morganite are the gemstones that take birth on account of such trace impurities.

Color is the Most Important Factor Influencing Price |
Generally, pure pinks to purplish pinks to magenta with strong color saturation are the rarest and most valuable Morganite colors. Remember that this gemstone is usually light in color, making it a great pastel gemstone. More intense colors cause a significant rise in value.
Typical Morganites only reach a grade of 3 (very light) or less due to their light tone. Even so, buyers still prefer Darker tones. You might also find stones that appear to be nearly colourless sold as morganites. ‘Goshenites’ is a more accurate name for such gems. The highest values are paid to stones with even tones.

Morganite might be heat-treated to modify the color. The effect is often to alter the orange-pink color to a more pure pink. The treatment is routine.

Faceted Morganite are less likely to show eye visible inclusions. Larger sizes show inclusions to a greater extent. Less transparent stones or the stones with copious eye-visible inclusions are carved as cabochons.

On account of its pleochroism, the rough has to be oriented carefully for shaping. Morganite is sculpted into all standard shapes and sizes as well as in unique designer cuts. Light-color material might be cut slightly deep to help intensify the color.
A small number of stones exhibit cat’s eye effect when cut and polished into cabochons.

Morganite crystals can grow to be very large. Large faceted stones are more easily available as compared to many other gemstones. Also, larger sizes are more likely to show strong color. Since color is the most important factor influencing quality, the gemstone should be selected in as large a size as possible.
